The Healthcare Insurance Follow-Up Agent is responsible for managing and resolving small balance accounts by following up with healthcare insurance companies. The agent ensures that all unpaid or underpaid claims are addressed, while maintaining a professional relationship with insurance representatives. The primary goal is to maximize reimbursement for healthcare services by identifying payment discrepancies and initiating the necessary follow-up actions.

Responsibilities:

➡️ Small Balance Account Management:
Review and analyze small balance accounts, typically $0 to $500, to identify outstanding payments. Prioritize accounts based on the payer and age of the claim. Document all actions taken on accounts, including follow-up calls, emails, and outcomes.
➡️ Insurance Follow-Up:
Contact healthcare insurance companies via phone, email, or online portals to follow up on unpaid, underpaid, or incorrectly processed claims. Obtain details on claim status and payment reprocessing to ensure timely resolution. Investigate payment denials or discrepancies and resubmit claims if necessary.
➡️ Claims Resolution:
Collaborate with internal billing and coding teams to correct claims errors. Initiate appeals or reconsiderations as needed to ensure payment security. Track and report on account resolution, providing regular updates to supervisors.
➡️Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare insurance policies, payer guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain the confidentiality of patient information. Document all follow-up actions and communications accurately in the system.
